Memorial Day 2024 - A day of remembrance and honor. Select members of the CHS Band, under the direction of Mrs. Heather McHenry played at today's Memorial Day Service held at the City Cemetery and hosted by the American Legion Post #16. Threatening rain abbreviated the service, but those participating did an awesome job with the playing of the National Anthem and Taps.

And last but not least, we recognize Principal David Arnold. “I am extremely blessed to be the Principal at CAHS. I have a great staff who are here to help students achieve their goals. I am blessed to have such great students who work hard and are such a joy to work with. I am blessed to have wonderful support from parents and the community. If he had to put into one word what it means to be the Principal at CAHS, he would say...Blessed

We recognize Mr. Daniel Arbili, ESOL Teacher Helping students settle in a new country, with new surroundings, a new school, new people, a new language, new friends, and helping them begin communicating with others is a huge challenge. Coming from a multicultural background myself and having lived in over 20 countries I know how hard being thrown into a new "world" is...The first year is very important for language learners who need to familiarize themselves with everything new and seeing the sudden improvements after the initial "shock" period is over and hearing them say their first sentence in English is the best thing in the world! I love seeing students learn new things which will help them succeed later in life and being part of that makes me very proud!

We recognize Mr. Daniel Lamontagne, Math Teacher. Teaching here at CHS means everything to me. I feel that when I became a teacher here, I became a part of our community. Crisfield is a place like no other that I've experienced. This town feels like America at its best, safe and frozen in time. While the rest of the U.S especially inner cities are experiencing upticks in violence and crime, our community here has maintained its steady safe environment.

We also recognize Mr. Robert Yeager, SPED Teacher To him teaching means that he gets to help students with tools they will use later on as an adult. To him it is not just academics, but also preparing them for adulthood. He says working at CAHS is amazing, and he loves the small family atmosphere.

Today we recognize Mr. Justin Ihnat, Facilitator Teaching means that I never stop learning, building relationships, and meeting students where they are. I love being a Crabber and strive to keep academics at the forefront of what we are doing here as educators at an institution of learning. College is not for everyone, but I've yet to find a any job or trade where it is not expected to think, problem solve independently, read, write, follow directions, take criticism, fix mistakes, interpret information accurately, cooperate, and teach others. "It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance." - Dr. Thomas Sowell

We recognize Mr. Steven Corbin, IT Mr. Corbin is a PC tech for the county. He doesn't only service CHS but also WES and wherever he may be needed, most likely the JMT building known as Board of Education (BOE). He said “I like walking the halls of CAHS because I have history here since I went to school here years ago. I have many memories. My wife (Cafeteria Manager Susan Corbin) and my daughter Grace Gray (Media Center Specialist) also went here and now work here so I get to see them often. Which brings up the fact that I saw all our 3 children go to school here. History is long that I have with the school and that means a lot. To the students he said “keep pushing until you reach the goal of being a graduate and who knows what else. Don't get discouraged if the road is long. If there are two ways of looking into something, examine both carefully. The decisions you make there will be with you the rest of your life.”

We also recognize Mr. David Simpson, Art Teacher Teaching is ingrained in his DNA; he sees that teaching is at its finest when a student creates something in art greater than they ever did before and they know it, as it’s visible in their face and attitude. He also sees it as extraordinary when he gets to see the smile and the look in a student's eye when a student wins an award in a public show and that individual is awarded publicly for their artistic merit. This is what teaching means to Mr. Simpson. He loves that Crisfield High has a family culture and believes that it is the greatest school ever. Go Crabbers!
