Today, Feb 1st, is the last day of the 1st semester. All Parent Notes and Medical notes for 2nd Quarter need to be turned in no later than Tuesday, Feb 6th.
Each semester, a student is allowed:
5 parent notes
5 absences (unexcused)
unlimited Medical notes.

Each year, our students participate in the National Spelling Bee contest. The winner of the Crisfield Academy and High School Spelling Bee will go on to the county competition in February. Congrats to our winner and thanks to Mrs. Traci Young for the prep and staging of the spelling bee.

Today, Wednesday, January 24, Mrs. Pat Benner, Wallops Flight Facility Education Coordinator, made a presentation about internships specifically for high school students in a diverse array of STEM fields for the summer session. These internships are a phenomenal opportunity for students to experience the workforce during real-time project work supervised by WFF staff. Deadline for students to apply is Feb. 2.

Earlier this week, students in our new Mu Alpha math club tested to enter an international math contest.
The Rocket City Math League is an international math contest that is open to high school and two-year college students enrolled in algebra through precalculus and above math courses. Our Mu Alpha members and associate members will compete in three rounds of contests this spring. These students were our school-wide winners at the Discovery (all high school math), Apollo (through Algebra 2), and Gemini (through Geometry) levels. Round two will begin mid-February.

Public Meeting Notice: The January 2024 meeting of the Somerset Board of Education
has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 31, 2024, 4pm Closed / 6pm Open.
Due to anticipated road conditions, all after school and evening SCPS programs are canceled today, January 19, 2024. The Garland Hayward Center after school program will be open per the normal schedule.
