Last evening (March 14), members were inducted into the Mu Alpha Theta (Math Club), CHS's newest club. This date was selected because of it being Pi Day! Mrs. Amanda Lankford chartered this club in order to showcase students' mathematics excellence. Juniors and seniors were inducted, and seniors received their cords they will wear at graduation. Sophomore associate members were also in attendance. Congratulations to all!
Shore Way to College college visits will take place in April. There is no cost for these trips and all transportation is provided. Consent forms and permission slips are required. Students or parents contact Ms. Turner at CHS at 410-968-0150 for forms.
Today the student body got the opportunity to hear engaging and energetic speaker, Melvin Adams, a former NCAA All-American basketball player and member of the Harlem Globetrotters. His dynamic message resonated with students and staff alike!
On April 4, CAHS juniors and sophomores will be taking a trip to watch a student matinee of "Romeo and Juliet" at the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company and then a stop at the Annapolis Mall. Cost is $40 each. To fill the bus, freshmen and seniors may be considered after March 25. Juniors and sophomores wishing to attend should get their permission slips and money in as soon as possible as it is first come, first served. See Mrs. Grace Gray with any questions.
8th graders from CAHS and WAHS had the opportunity to explore and network with over 100 vendors across 15 career pathways today at JA Inspire. Our students were amazed with all of the interactive opportunities and career information given to them.
Today, 8th graders attended the Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore's "JA Inspire" event at the Wicomico County Youth & Civic Center. The event is the largest JA Inspire in the history of the Eastern Shore.
Hosted by the Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board, it featured over 130 exhibitors from across Delmarva including TidalHealth, Chesapeake Utilities, Whiting Turner, NASA, and many more.
The event also featured colleges, universities, apprenticeship programs, trade schools, and internships so students could get information on pursuing their educational and career goals.

Attention juniors and sophomores: Do you have a 3.33 GPA and are interested in becoming a student board member for the Somerset County Board of Education? Applications are now available from Mrs. Daum. Here are the requirements:
You would be a non-voting representative that will advise the Board of Education on the thoughts, feelings and viewpoints of students as solicited.
Attend all public school board meetings.
Serve for a one-year term.
Provide information on BOE decisions to feeder school students.
Contact principals and provide School News reports at each Board Meeting.

A huge 'Thank You' to our community partners who were available for our students and our families last night during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Students and Families participated in the Mental and Behavioral Health Fair on March 11th. This was coordinated by CHS and the Local Management Board to be an opportunity for students and families to learn more about our local mental and behavioral health resources. The student services team at CHS is available to help connect you with local care.

Last year the MD Center for School Safety held a MD Art Contest, which they are doing again this year. Art Teacher, Mr. David Simpson's student, Aaliyah McKenzie, competed and her artwork made the advertisement (shown here) for this year's contest. Her artwork is featured in the Bottom left. "My Principal is My Bebo," Bebo means protector. Way to go Aaliyah!
